Aloe vera / barbadensis

http://www.ginatnoy.co.il/pcacti/Aloevera.html

eucalyptus

http://www.ginatnoy.co.il/english/eucalyptus.html#

Eucalyptus is one of three similar genera that are commonly referred to as "eucalypts," the others being Corymbia and Angophora. Many, but far from all, are known as gum trees because many species exude copious sap from any break in the bark (e.g. Scribbly Gum). The generic name is derived from the Greek words , meaning "well," and (kalyptos), meaning well "covered," which refers to the operculum on the calyx that initially conceals the flower. Eucalyptus has attracted attention from global development researchers and environmentalists. It is a fast-growing source of wood, its oil can be used for cleaning and functions as a natural insecticide, and it is sometimes used to drain swamps and thereby reduce the risk of malaria. Outside their natural ranges, eucalypts are both lauded for their beneficial economic impact on poor populations and derided for being invasive water-suckers, leading to controversy over their total impact.

the eucalyptus group

Eucalyptus is a tree. The dried leaves and oil are used to make medicine. Eucalyptus leaf is used for infections, fever, upset stomach, and to help loosen coughs. The leaf is also used for treating respiratory tract infections, whooping cough, asthma, pulmonary tuberculosis, osteoarthritis, joint pain (rheumatism), acne, wounds, poorly healing ulcers, burns, bacterial dysentery, ringworms, liver and gallbladder problems, loss of appetite, and cancer. Eucalyptus leaves contain tannins (which are believed to help reduce inflammation), flavonoids (such as quercetin, which has antioxidant properties), and volatile oils. Eucalyptus oil should not be taken by mouth or applied to the skin full-strength. It must be diluted for safety. n manufacturing, eucalyptus oil is used as a fragrance in perfumes and cosmetics. It is also used as a mouthwash, antiseptic, liniment and ointment, and in toothpaste, cough drops, and gum lozenges. There are many species of eucalyptus. Some are the size of an ornamental shrub, and some grow to be giant trees. The type of eucalyptus that is most often used medicinally is called blue gum or Australian fever tree.

In dentistry, eucalyptus oil is included in products used as sealers and solvents for root canal fillings. In foods, dried eucalyptus leaf is used as a flavoring agent.

eucalyptus with hairy red leaves - lumps are psyllids and the other damage is from the gum leaf skeletoniser. some grey bumps on the back of dead leaves. the psyllid insect is inside the lump only systemic insecticides work. remove the leaves and destroy them. Get rid of them before they hatch. the skeletoniser recommends Maldison, Malathion or Malathon. Aparently there has been a plague of skeletonisers in different regions . They are ugly hairy catapillers. Be careful touching them. Can cause a reaction and make you itch

coppice a Eucalyptus - Formative pruning, coppicing and pollarding of eucalyptus are best carried out in late winter to early spring (February to March), just before plants are actively in growth. Coppicing and pollarding are best initiated early in the life of the tree, rather than used on over large or damaged mature trees, which may or may not regenerate in response. * To coppice a eucalyptus, cut back the trunk or branches to 5-7.5cm (2-3in) above the ground or to the stubs left the previous year. * When pollarding a eucalyptus, cut back to stubs on the main trunk, usually 2m (6ft) high.

How to Make a Garden Mirror

from wikiHow - The How to Manual That You Can Edit

Mirrors in the garden can add whimsy and make a small space look larger. Popular in Europe, they're more difficult to find in the US and Canada at the moment. If you do find them, they will likely cost $200 or more. In this tutorial, you'll learn how to make two mirrors that look like windows for well under $100.

Steps

  1. Find the mirrors that you want to turn into garden mirrors.
  2. Using a circular saw, cut the plywood into the exact same size and shape as the mirrors.
  3. Paint the plywood with any outdoor paint. Since it won't be seen, any color will do, so use up unwanted paint if you have any, or even mixed colors.
  4. While you're waiting for the paint to dry on the plywood, cut the fence boards into the length you need to make your outer frame. If you're really good with the saw, you might try cutting at a 45 degree angle. In this tutorial, the outer frame was simply cut square since there wasn't any material to spare.
  5. Using liquid nails or caulk, glue the "frame" of fencing material to the front of the mirror.
  6. Measure the inside of the frame from top to bottom and cut a piece of trim to fit that exactly. Glue it on to the mirror adjacent to one side of the frame.
  7. Create an open window look. This is the tricky part. You have to use your judgment to determine how "open" you want the window to look. It's recommended that you don't try to make it look too open or the effect won't work. Cut a piece of trim about two inches (5cm) (depending on the size of your project) smaller than the first piece. Glue it about an inch (2.5cm) from the other side of the frame.
  8. Measure the distance between the two pieces of frame and cut another piece exactly that size. Glue it in the exact center of the first two pieces, but perpendicular.
  9. Cut a piece a little longer than you will need for the top and bottom part of the window and place it where it needs to go. Mark the angle you need to cut on both sides and cut it. Now glue each of those down.
  10. Determine how you want to hang the garden mirror. You'll need to add a small piece of wood to the plywood for a hanger before you attach the plywood to the back of the mirror. This part is up to you because it depends on where you'll be hanging the mirrors to how much wood you need to attach. Use your judgment.
  11. Using an unbroken line of waterproof caulk around the outside back of the mirror, and more all over the back of the mirror, glue the painted plywood in place.
  12. Add the hangers to the back of the garden mirror. Now hang the garden mirrors up!

Video

This video explains how to hang a heavy mirror.

Tips

  • It's a good idea to make two at a time to ensure they both look the same.
  • Re-use anything you have on hand to save money.
  • When mounting the plywood to the back, inserting a thin shim or piece of wood down either the left or right edge will slightly offset the mirror. This will add to the illusion because then someone standing directly in front of the mirror won't see themselves reflected in it. Be sure to to caulk all spaces between the plywood backing, the mirror and the frame to prevent water accumulation.

Warnings

  • Glass breaks easily and can cut!
  • Use all safety protection when operating machinery (such as a circular saw!)

Things You'll Need

  • A mirror. These can be bought from a big box home improvement store, but you have to go to the glass cutting section to get a plain mirror. They are very inexpensive.
  • Wood for the frame. In this tutorial, two pieces of a leftover fence were used. If you have an old window frame you want to re-purpose, this would be much easier!
  • Trim pieces for the inside of the window. They are available in 8 foot lengths at the big box stores.
  • Plywood large enough for the back of each of your mirror. Get the flattest piece you can since it has to be glued to the back of a mirror.
  • Hanging materials
  • Waterproof caulk and liquid nails for outdoor use.
  • A saw with which to cut all the wood. And any safety equipment that goes along with power tools. (Like goggles!)

Betula or Birch

- Styrax officinalis / Officinal Styrax

the Birch group

Betula alba - White Birch. Bouleau. Berke. Bereza. Monoecia triandria.Lady of the Woods.
Silver Birch -Betula pendula -
Betula pubescens - downy birch

Betula nigra / River Birch / Water Birch -

germacrene D (~15%)/ germacrane
delta-cadinene (~13

But the hummus was mentioned earlier in the Talmud as "seasoned" About 1500 years ago, suggested Boaz to Ruth the Moabite "Eat the bread table, and your pita-bread with vinegar" (Ruth B. XIV.) Meir Shalev author and journalist raised one of his columns are actually the hummus idea. He bases his comments in some biblical references incompatible interpretations. Wikipedia

It is unclear when invented the "Hummoss" (that is, the dish we call hummus), or when riched to our region (There is evidence that he was here at least since the Crusades). Anyway, it seems that the encounter between hummus and tahini, occurred towards the end of the third millennium BC, ancient Babylon (sesame was already familiar prehistoric man, and reached the Fertile Crescent region from Persia, Afghanistan and Ethiopia

Climbing plants

Much of the climbing ornamental flowering plants, their origin from tropical and subtropical regions worldwide. Therefore, these plants are sensitive to low temperatures and exceptional detail, described in the literature gardener as Frost Hardy, that is resistant to frost. Number of climbers, despite their origins in hot areas, will grow and fit the average Israeli winter without injury with green and pleasant and will sometimes bloom.

Some exampels for winter climbing israeli winter : Jasminum azoricum , Bougainvillea glabra , Pyrostegia venusta , Mansoa alliacea , Pentalinon luteum

cold resistance mechanism of these plants is by logging in hibernation. Plants and the leaves fall songs, in response to shorter day, and winter they are dormant. We call them the deciduous plants.

this plant group, suitable plant in areas where there is a cold winter such as Jerusalem, Safed or Mitzpe Ramon. When we plant plants of this group in the area where mild winters, such as the coastal plain, plant performance will be poor, and blooming will be partial.

vines are long, thin stems with usually no independent mechanical stability, but with a grip of other organs. branches usually thin and flexible. scion parts of climbers - stem and leaves - evolved the means to help grip, support or reliance. climbers that can reach long distances or great heights despite the "weakness." grip stems and leaves their job and support structure also changed.

because the source area characterized by trees and dense subtropical high, the investment in creating and adjusting means climbing stems and leaves is huge. For climbers missing resource is light. Where they sprout a unique niche, and other plants has not adjusted. They sprout in the shade of trees, and climb quickly into the light to perform photosynthesis. There are vines that grow well lit places, these usually do not climb high, naturally, but would stretch horizontally

among climbers has two multi-annual one, is evergreen and deciduous, herbaceous and woody have. Wide variety of climbers is reflected not only in various growth or distribution, but also typical of development biology and methods of reproduction. Depending on the type mechanisms, tend to divide the stem climber climbers, climbers leaves root climbers.

vines do not get materials from the plants they rely on them - the plants that support them, and such relations are not considered a relative "parasitism."

how they climb? climbing stems : Some plants have stems that are wound. This honeysuckle, beans, Thonbergy, Pnedorah others. Ivy held (Putuc) sprout roots grip the stem. These roots not real. short Buttons and strong grip edges.

vine stalks, and others are developing some fine structure, a fitness curled wires, those tendrils. Tendrils wrapped around the trunks, beams and fencing. Vine clinging tendrils and wrapped by grip pads at the tips

tendrils wrapped after contact with solid subject . This response is related to motility in plants takes place in situations (for example Response light). Leaves and stems and parts also are able to perform these movements. Initially, the movement of tendrils twisting movement - round tip tendrils into solid subject . Later spiraling tendrils wrapped around. Growth is differential. Cells very close and far from dated shorter. The result - curled spring stays in shape even after removal of the solid bone.
